My VWD Lottery Experience.

With my last minute trip to Germany over I collated all the leads and gave them a call last night, nearly all of them were at home which made a nice change. I sent out the DVD’s to the prospective affiliates this morning and now I have a bundle of follow ups to do at the end of the week! sweet.

Work is keeping me busy too but I’ve streamlined a few things so I can log on to one of my webpages and do a lot of stuff wherever I am, today I sent out another promotional email about the fast 5 promotion, it went out to all the subscribers to the save your driving licence ebook and used the special link that contains the advertisers VWD guest login so all other users of my pages can be sure that their particular sites will be linked to, even sweeter!

My lottery topsites has been doing well lately, lots of sites and users and dumb people who leave anonymous derogatory comments about peoples sites, namely mine! hehe. Fancy leaving a lame comment from a made up address and doing it with the same IP that you used to post a message on a forum on the same day. hehehe.

It’s been known that I have been super busy lately but before the conference I thought it best to start getting on the leaderboard for signups again, I got enough to get on there last month but because it was over more than 1 account it didn’t get bundled together so I didn’t get to appear so just before the conference I unlocked my campaign online and have started to receive fresh leads again.

Yesterday, I got talking to someone from Hong Kong about the business on the phone which is great because I have 2 Cantonese affiliates in my downline that I’ll be able to hand him off to if he joins up. It was funny, when I found out he was from Hong Kong I started dropping in some Cantonese into the conversation. Just little bits like a confirmation request and an “I understand” here and there, he asked me in Cantonese if I spoke Cantonese and I knew enough to answer that I couldn’t very well but I am learning and I understand quite a lot. Every Cantonese person I have said this too is always so surprised to hear a Gwai Lo (wide eye or white man) say more than a swear word in their language (I know plenty of them too!). Hopefully it was enough to give him the ‘push’ that phone prospects need to remember you when they receive their package.

I talked to a really nice Welsh/Irish woman today and she will be receiving her DVD through the post and a follow up call on the weekend, get those two and I’m 3 away from another free syndicate entry! Hopefully in time for the super-jackpot-someone-must-win draw in February!!

It just goes to show, there’s ALWAYS time to make money…..

I got back from the conference (finally) and was buzzing with the news!

It was great to meet up with people from the vwd forum before the meeting, we had a mahoosive breakfast first which cost pennies and had a jolly old time at the meeting. I should get some pictures later on in the week to put up.

I have just spent a while responding to a question on a forum, it must have touched a nerve because I spent over 1 and a half hours writing this out.. is it too much do you think?

So how would you go about promoting the business online without vast sums of money & technical expertise (i.e. doing blogs, building websites etc…etc…)?

I am looking to get things moving quickly but don’t have the time to go standing on street corners or building complexed websites etc…etc…

I was playing with some script today, I edited the custom hotpocket flyer and adapted it so it would work with a dvd covering letter.

I got everything working but the file was over 5mb in size when it was finished and well, that’s a big file to send by email! I went out a-searchin’ and found some classes for zipping things up which was quite cool, I spent a couple of hours learning how they worked and inserted them into the code and tested it…poo, not enough memory on my host to zip up a 5mb file. arrrgh!

I logged into the control panel of the hosting ready to send a support email requesting more memory allocation and while I was waiting for the page to load I thought I would try and reduce the file size of the document first. There is a picture at the top of the file and that is what was causing the chunky part of the file. First I removed the picture and uploaded the slim file and the script worked, it made the file, compressed it, deleted the temp file and emailed the completed zip to the correct address. Great, the program works, while I was doing the “I’m a programmer me!” dance I realised that a big part of the documents picture was 2 lines of text which could easily be replaced with ‘real’ text. a copy, snip, crop, edit, save later and now my document was down to 102kb. how nice.

turns out I needn’t have bothered with learning how to zip things up! I learned a lot though and now I can zip things on the fly with php (not flies though apparently)

This happens a lot with me, I encounter a problem and spend a while coming up with (IMO) an elegant solution by going off and a-learnin’ something new that will do it. I spend a few hours in a kind of bliss as I solve the problem with something I’ve never used before and (nearly always) come up with a working solution only to find out that I needn’t have bothered because all you gotta do is “click here”.

I’ve sent out the latest newsletter to the affiliate ecourse subscribers and it’s encouraging to see that over 30% have been opened within a couple of hours. I detail how to use the new custom hotpocket flyer and the updates to the Save Your Driving Licence page and a few well done’s to those that had noticable activity this week.

The latest members at the top of the page is working fine, I added some code so I can’t make a mistake on the entering. Well, I can make a mistake but now I can fix it easily! I’ve also added bit of code that lets me and only me access the editing page using sessions which is a first for me. Cookies next!
