My VWD Lottery Experience.

No, not the sci fi film but that wonderful phenomena of finding something or having something fortunate happen when you’re actually after something else entirely. I had the strange occurrence of finding exactly what I was looking for but in a completely different place.

In the previous posts I have been nearly miffed at losing all my emails and contacts, I sent an email to admin asking if they could resend the contact details but with hundreds in my genealogy it was a bit too much to ask so I set about finding some sort of backup and remembered that I’d spent an age waiting for an IR sync with my nokia phone when I had last played with my IR device.
I got nokia suite up and working and then spent an eternity waiting for it to transfer back the contacts and praying to all my gods that they would still contain the other data like email address and notes….while I was waiting I picked up my PDA that sits next to the monitor, I haven’t used it in ages but it still has a copy of Bejeweled2 on there which eats up waiting time nicely.

Played some games and a beep later, the contacts had finished transferring. How many?

LOL, it seems it only put the phones’ new contacts into the pc. bah

Before I jumped nude out of the window in a kamikaze skin leap I pressed the contacts button on the pda and lo-and-behold there art mine contacts!! All this time my PDA was sitting in it’s cradle it was silently monitoring my outlook contacts folder and grabbing any new piece of information. EVERY contact was there and included notes and reminders. I switched it on in the cradle and the familiar “boopleebeep” happened and next thing I know, a new folder has appeared in Outlook with EVERY message and EVERY subfolder.
